PHNOM PENH: The Australian government has extended its support to Cambodia by empowering local research and policy organizations to tackle significant development challenges through innovative and locally driven solutions. This initiative emphasizes inclusive policymaking and climate action.
According to Agence Kampuchea Presse, Mr. Andreas Zubbrugg, Head of Development Cooperation at the Australian Embassy, played a key role in a dissemination workshop focused on ‘Climate Change Adaptation Through a Cash-Transfer Programme in Cambodia – Empirical Experiences from Coastal Communities.’ The workshop aimed to share research findings and insights on enhancing climate resilience through cash-transfer programmes.
The event was organized by the National Institute of Social Affairs, the Advocacy and Policy Institute, and the Fisheries Action Coalition Team, with the support of The Asia Foundation’s Ponlok Chomnes II: Data and Dialogue for Development in Cambodia programme. It brought together 70 participants, including government officials, researchers, students, community members, and civil society representatives, to discuss the potential of cash-transfer programmes in strengthening climate resilience in Cambodia’s coastal communities.
The Australian Embassy reaffirmed its commitment to fostering sustainable and inclusive solutions that align with global climate goals while promoting equitable economic growth, through partnerships with government entities, local communities, and civil society.
