Asian Vision Institute and Asia Water Council Forge Partnership for Water Sustainability

Phnom Penh: The Asian Vision Institute (AVI) and the Asia Water Council (AWC) have officially signed a Memorandum of Agreement (MoA) to enhance cooperation in water sustainability, capacity building, and research in Cambodia and across Asia.

According to Agence Kampuchea Presse, the event, held recently, was presided over by H.E. Suos Yara, a Member of the National Assembly of Cambodia and Vice-President of the Asia National Assembly Water Consultative Board (AAWC), along with H.E Dr. Yun Seog-dae, Chairman of the AWC and Executive Director of K-Water. The agreement was signed by Dr. Chheng Kimlong, President of AVI, and Dr. Cho Yong-deok, Secretary General of AWC.

The signing ceremony marked a significant milestone for the two institutions in contributing to Cambodia’s water sector development. Water is one of the five priorities of the Royal Government of Cambodia, as illustrated in the Pentagonal Strategy-Phase 1. Under the MoA, both organisations will work together on joint research initiatives, policy dialogues, and capacity-building programmes to support sustainable water management and promote innovative solutions.

Key areas of collaboration include research on water sustainability, technology innovation, and environmental protection, as well as co-development of projects to address water challenges in Cambodia and Asia. Both parties also aim to support Cambodia’s Water Vision and Prosperity Initiative and to participate jointly in international water events and workshops.

The partnership between AVI and AWC represents a shared vision of knowledge co-creation and strategic collaboration to address water challenges in Cambodia and beyond. It will play a crucial role in strengthening Asia’s water security and advancing sustainable solutions for future generations. AVI is dedicated to promoting an inclusive, sustainable, resilient, and prosperous society, while AWC is committed to promoting sustainable water management and facilitating collaboration among stakeholders in the water sector.
