‘Angkor: The Smile of Cambodia’ Event Wrapped Up with Unique Ting Mong Performances.


Siem reap: Siem Reap province has concluded the ‘Angkor: The Smile of Cambodia’ event, organised to attract visitors to the province, with amazing traditional puppet (locally called Ting Mong) performances. Themed “We Work Together for Culture-Tourism,” the Ting Mong performances on Oct. 30 featured specially modelling and dancing competitions, making them a unique entertainment fondly enjoyed and engaged by participants.

According to Agence Kampuchea Presse, Ms. Choun Sina, a resident of Siem Reap who joined the performances, was touched by the way Cambodian culture and tradition were impressively promoted through the activities. “We used to see Ting Mong performed especially during religious events,” she said, “now it is used for stage modelling and dancing competitions, which are very entertaining.”

Siem Reap hosted the ‘Angkor: The Smile of Cambodia’ event from Oct. 29 to 30 as part of a bigger campaign to promote national and international tourists to visit the province. The celebration included cultur
al and traditional performances, wherein joiners could dress up with Cambodian traditional clothing and make-up, and Khmer food and product exhibitions, among others.
