Angkor Sankranta Preparations Showcase Beauty and Appeal in Front of Angkor Wat

Siem Reap: As the highly anticipated 2025 Angkor Sankranta event approaches, preparations around the Angkor Wat Temple complex are well underway. Decorative structures and installations have started to showcase their charm, attracting attention from both local and international visitors who are joyfully capturing photos of the vibrant arrangements.

According to Agence Kampuchea Presse, the main area in front of Angkor Wat is being transformed with several key programmes such as ‘My Village,’ ‘Palm Village,’ ‘Creative Village,’ traditional water games, the ‘Angkor Smile Garden,’ and a variety of exhibitions and performances. Most of the setup across these areas is nearly complete.

H.E. Sok Sangvar, Head of the ‘My Village’ programme for Angkor Sankranta, reported that as of April 6, 2025, 90 percent of the village’s structures and decorations have been completed. He emphasised the team’s commitment to creating an engaging atmosphere that highlights Khmer traditional culture and popular folk games.

This year, over 150 staff members are involved, a significant increase compared to previous years-indicating a larger and more vibrant celebration ahead. The ‘Angkor Smile Garden’ has also begun to captivate visitors with its appealing design.

Tourists and locals from Siem Reap are flocking to the site both day and night to enjoy the peaceful setting, take photos, and share joyful moments with family and friends in a festive and harmonious environment. The organising committee encourages everyone to come and experience the festivities of Angkor Sankranta, which promises an unforgettable celebration of Khmer New Year, culture, and unity.
