Angkor Archaeological Park Attracts 146,140 Foreign Tourists in January

Siem Reap: The famed Angkor Archaeological Park received 146,140 foreign tourists in the first month of this year, marking a 26.4 percent increase compared to January last year, the state-owned Angkor Enterprise reported on February 1.

According to Agence Kampuchea Presse, the enterprise generated approximately US$6.9 million from ticket sales at Angkor, reflecting a year-on-year increase of 25.5 percent. Notably, around US$300,000 of January’s income has been allocated to the Cambodia Kantha Bopha Foundation to support free medical services for Cambodian children at the Kantha Bopha Children’s Hospitals.

The entrance fees for the park are set at US$37 for a one-day visit, US$62 for a three-day visit, and US$72 for a week-long visit. On January 30, the Royal Government of Cambodia introduced reforms to the Angkor ticketing system and ticket inspection process. These reforms provide more options for foreign tourists and tour agencies to purchase entrance tickets via a digital platform using self-service machines, thereby facilitating easier access to the ancient temples.

Fifteen self-service machines have been installed at various locations across Siem Reap city, including Angkor Enterprise’s ticket counter, Angkor Parvis, and The Heritage Walk mall. Inscribed on UNESCO’s World Heritage List in 1992, the Angkor Archaeological Park, located in the northwestern province of Siem Reap, remains Cambodia’s most popular tourist destination.
