Acting Head of State Hopes Negotiations on Russia-Ukraine War Will Conclude with Fruitful Solution

Phnom Penh: Acting Head of State of Cambodia, Samdech Akka Moha Sena Padei Techo Hun Sen, has hoped that the negotiations between the parties involved in the Russia-Ukraine war will soon reach a resolution that ends the conflict.

According to Agence Kampuchea Presse, Samdech Techo Hun Sen expressed his hope when he received a courtesy call by Russian Ambassador to Cambodia H.E. Anatoly Borovik, at the Senate Palace in Phnom Penh this morning. During the meeting, the Cambodian Acting Head of State reiterated his belief that only negotiations can bring an end to a war, while war cannot be used to end a war.

Samdech Techo Hun Sen expressed his satisfaction with the long-standing relations between the two countries and praised H.E. Anatoly Borovik’s diplomatic mission in Cambodia. He also thanked Russia for the scholarships to Cambodian students, which have contributed to developing Cambodia’s human resources since the days when the former Soviet Union helped train many of today’s Cambodian human capital.

In addition, he highlighted the strong ties between the legislative bodies of the two countries and urged closer engagement between their leaders. He mentioned the possibility of inviting the head of the ruling Russian party to visit Cambodia in the future. Samdech Techo Hun Sen also expressed his desire to see the expansion of economic and trade ties between the two countries.

For his part, H.E. Anatoly Borovik emphasized the good cooperation between Cambodia and Russia, affirming that on the occasion of the 70th anniversary of diplomatic relations between the two countries in 2026, Russia is ready to work with the Cambodian side to further expand the bilateral relations. At the same time, H.E. Ambassador noticed the robust cooperation between the executive and legislative bodies as well as between the parties of both nations.
