Jakarta (ANTARA) – The Asia Australasia Road Conference (AARC) 2023 has assisted efforts to improve the quality and sustainability of road development for communities, Public Works and Housing Minister Basuki Hadimuljono said.”I believe that this conference has given us insights and chances to share experiences to implement technology for increasing efficiency in road development,” he said on Saturday (August 26) when closing the conference. Hadimuljono had officially closed the AARC 2023 that took place in Labuan Bajo, Manggarai Barat District, East Nusa Tenggara Province, on August 24-27. In the closing session, he was accompanied by PIARC (World Road Association) President Nazir Ali and Muhammad Marizwan Abdul Manan from the Road Engineering Association of Asia and Australasia (REAAA). Hadimuljono believed that the event had enabled participants, including experts and practitioners, to share knowledge and experiences regarding efforts to achieve a high quality of sustainable road development for all. He also thanked those contributing to the success of the event, saying that it could be held successfully thanks to a productive collaboration between his ministry and various road development stakeholders. “This productive collaboration shows our commitment to the advancement of transportation and road development. May the cooperation built from this conference continue to inspire us to bring positive changes,” he said. The AARC 2023 was joined by 1,052 local participants and 138 international participants. They comprised government officials, investors, industry players, contractors, design consultants, technicians, engineers, academicians, and professionals. During the event which explored a theme of “advanced technology implementation towards sustainable road development”, the participants were given opportunities to join several other activities, including technical session, seminar, exhibition, and field trip.
