Phnom Penh: Biodiversity and Research Monitoring team of the wildlife conservation organisation WWF-Cambodia has deployed 17 camera traps across Phnom Prich Wildlife Sanctuary over the last several days, hoping to catch glimpses of an Indochinese leopard.
According to Agence Kampuchea Presse, the information was shared by WWF-Cambodia in a news release on Jan. 27, hoping to capture the female Leopard seen roaming the area last year. This is a hopeful sign that the majestic species persists in the Eastern Plains Landscape, despite poaching and lack of prey, underlined the source.
Established in 1993, the Phnom Prich Wildlife Sanctuary covers an area of more than 2,000 square kilometres in eastern Cambodia. It is home to wide varieties of mammals, birds and reptiles, as well as some of the country’s endangered species.
