11th IPTP Plenary Session Concludes with Phnom Penh Declaration and Universal Peace Charter.


Phnom Penh: The 11th Plenary Session of the International Parliament for Tolerance and Peace (IPTP 11), hosted by Cambodia since November 23, concluded successfully this morning. The session ended with the adoption of the Phnom Penh Declaration and the announcement of the Universal Peace Charter: For People and the Planet, following several days of extensive discussions.

According to Agence Kampuchea Presse, the closing ceremony was presided over by Samdech Maha Borvor Thipadei Khuon Sudary, President of the National Assembly of Cambodia and Chairperson of the IPTP 11. During the event, H.E. Ek Nath Dhakal, Member of Parliament from Nepal, presented an outcome report of the five IPTP Committees, which include the Peace and Reconciliation Committee, International Cooperation Committee, Food-Energy-Water (FEW) and Environmental Security Committee, Science, Technology, and Innovation Committee, and Legal and Justice Committee.

h IPTP Phnom Penh Declaration and the Universal Peace Charter: For People and the Planet. The Universal Peace Charter is envisioned as a long-term strategy for global peace, addressing five key pillars: conflict prevention, advancements in peacebuilding and good governance, transitional justice, post-conflict reconstruction, and food security, along with sustainable development in response to climate change.

The Charter aims to serve as a model for peace, functioning as a universal, open, non-binding instrument rooted in the fundamental principles of the United Nations Charter. It seeks to promote the values of peace, peacebuilding, tolerance, and sustainable development through practical approaches to peacebuilding, conflict prevention, the promotion of justice, and global development.
