Vietnam has been elected as Vice-Chair of the General Assembly of the State Parties to the 2003 Convention for the Safeguarding of the Intangible Cultural Heritage, bringing the total number of key UNESCO mechanisms in which Vietnam has joined to six. This appointment, announced at the 10th session of the General Assembly in Paris on June 11, underscored Vietnam’s rising international profile and the international community’s trust in its ability to contribute to global institutions, said Vietnamese Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs and Chairman of the Vietnam National Commission for UNESCO Ha Kim Ngoc, who led the Vietnamese delegation to the session.
