PM Encourages More Research to Upgrade Teaching Skills

Prime Minister Samdech Moha Borvor Thipadei Hun Manet has encouraged all teachers to further research on upgrading their teaching skills.

Addressing the graduation ceremony of Phnom Penh Teacher Education College and the inauguration ceremony of a new dormitory in Phnom Penh this morning, Samdech Thipadei Hun Manet said for a better future, upgrading teaching skills is so important, therefore all teachers have to ensure this.

‘Human quality is a determinant of human ability. When we are strong, we can develop our nation to be stronger,’ he underlined.

‘Teacher quality is a key factor to ensure the quality of education and capacity building of the country. It is interconnected. If teachers are not good, students will not be good, so our human resources are not good. When going abroad, it is difficult to compete with others. We have to understand this,’ he said.

Samdech Thipadei Hun Manet expressed his support for the education reform conducted by the Ministry of Education, Youth and Sports, reaffirming tha
t the Royal Government will continue to pay high attention to this reform program.

In 2020, he pointed out, some US$782 million of the national budget was allocated to the education sector, and this amount rose to some US$911 million this year and will see further increase in the years to come.

During wartime, the biggest part of the national budget goes to the military sector, but in peacetime, education is more important.
