Information Minister, NPCT Discuss Media Professionalism


Minister of Information H.E. Neth Pheaktra has shared some updates on Cambodia media and efforts to further promote professional reporting in the country with a senior delegation of the National Press Council of Thailand (NPCT).

The minister received the NPCT delegation led by its president, Mr. Chavarong Limpattamapanee, at the ministry on July 29.

He highlighted the shift in people’s information access from traditional to new media, the sharp increase in social media users, and the threats of fake news and misinformation.

With that, he added, the Royal Government of Cambodia, through the Ministry of Information, is drafting a charter for professional journalism through a comprehensive consultation process with a broad range of media practitioners and experts.

H.E. Neth Pheaktra underlined that his ministry is firmly committed to enhancing the quality and security of information in Cambodia.

Mr. Chavarong Limpattamapanee thanked the minister for the sharing and highly valued the efforts of Cambodia’s M
inistry of Information in promoting quality reporting as well as the fight against fake news.

He also appreciated the professional cooperation between pertinent ministries and institutions between the two countries.
